New Wip(s)

I have a new wip... yes... again...The baby blanket for my niece, she will be born on June.

The pattern I've downloaded from here. I love this blanket. Because here is squares and the ripple, therefore it is not boring to crochet.

Another one project - a shawl for my mom.

Shawl wip 1

Shawl wip 2

This is third time I start to make it. I hope I could finish the current shawl. I didn't like the first two attempts, so they have been frogged. Do you want see them?

Number one. Frogged...

Number two. Not frogged actually, but I think that I never continue to make it.

I wish your all a sunny and warm weather such as we have now!

Alisha's Summer Hat

One day I noticed that I needed to make a few cotton hats for my daughters. Here is one of them for my younger daughter.

Alisha's Summer Hat 3

A description of the hat.
The head circumference of my 2,5 years old girl is 48cm.
The size of the finished hat: is 21cm in width, and 17cm in height.
The yarn I've used is 100% Cotton DK by Patons UK (210m/100g) in Nectarine color.
And a 4mm hook.

Ch 4 join in the ring with a slip st
Rnd 1:  12 DC in the ring
Rnd 2:  2 DC in each st around
Rnd 3:  (DC, ch 1, DC) - in every 2nd st around
Rnd 4:  4 DC in each ch-1-space around
Rnd 5:  Cluster(2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) - in the middle of each 4-DC-cluster
Rnd 6:  *(2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) - in ch-1-space, 1 Treble in the space between the clusters, repeat from * around
Rnd 7:  *(2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) - in ch-1-space, 2 DC in Treble - repeat from * around (84 st)
Rnd 8:  *(2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) - in ch-1-space, 1 DC in each of the next 2 DC between the clusters - repeat from * around
Rnd 9-16:  As Rnd 8
Rnd 17:  Sc in each st around(84 st)
Rnd 18:  *6 Sc, ch-3-Picot - repeat from * around. Fasten off, hide the ends, attach a lovely flower and enjoy your girl's new hat!

How I do a Picot: Sc, ch 3, slip st in the sc (insert hook through the front loop of sc and left vertical bar of the same sc).

The lovely flower pattern I found here.

Also a graphic pattern of the hat, where it is missing, hehe, Round 17. You should do sc in each st around in that round.

Granny Tissue Box Cover

Granny Tissue Box Cover_01

One quick project as I promised a while ago. It is a granny tissue box cover. I've made two similar covers for rectangle boxes before, I wrote about one of them here.
And here on Ravelry you can see another I've made for Christmas time on the end of the last year and I noticed I didn't show it for you....

Is the time for a cubic shaped box. Here it is.

Granny Tissue Box Cover_03

Granny Tissue Box Cover_02

The size of the box is 10cm*11cm*11,5cm, nearly a cub. While I had not internet I had enough a free time to prepared that description for you.  Hope it will be useful. Hope it is clear.

Round 1: ch 18 join in ring with a slip stitch.
Working ch 2 instead of first dc of the beginning of each following round.
Rnd 2: *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the next stitch - we got a corner cluster, skip 2 st, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next st - we got next corner cluster, skip 2 st, 3 dc in next st, skip 2 stitches. Repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st.
Rnd 3: sl st across the next 2 st, sl st in the corner ch-2-space, *(3 dc, ch 2 , 3 dc) in the same ch-2-space, 3 dc in the space between the next two 3-dc-clusters, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the corner ch-2-space, (3 dc in the space between the next two 3-dc-clusters) two times. Repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st. We have a rectangle shaped top of our cover.
Follow without a making corner clusters.
Rnd 5: sl st across the next 2 st, sl st and 3 dc in the following space; follow making 3-dc-clusters between the 3-dc-clusters.
Rnd 6 - 16: follow Rnd 5.
Rnd 17: sc in each st around, join and fasten off. That's it!

Please if something not clear don't hesitate to contact me for a help here or at my Facebook! As well through my e-mail soleil88@inbox.lv

The yarn I've used is Top Value by James C.Brett left from a several my projects as a Rainbow Granny Tissue Box Cover and Coasters, Simple Square Blanket(now finished), Ripple Blanket, Christmas Star Garland. If you remember I'm planning to use  all my stash!  But this did not prevent me to buy a little more yarn! Creative Cotton by Rico Design I've bought online from Casa Cenina. What a lovely bright and nice yarn! I'm happy to have it!

Some of them variegated skeins on the picture are not Rico Cotton, it is some German cotton I've bought at LIDL store.

And as usual I have a few small things on the go. Two beanies and one triangular capitium - all of them are for summer, from cotton yarn and for my daughters; and one beautiful purse which I saw on the Talitha's blog and couldn't resist not to take up this colourful lovely purse using my new Rico cotton! As well I've started to make a baby blanket for my new niece... And I have finished the Simple Square Blanket for My Son and I've made one striped bag for me.

Enjoy every day and every single moment!

Granny Rose Pillow

I had no internet all last week… I understood that I’m an internet addict I came to my computer every morning and walked away… to make breakfast and do my usual chores which I usually do after surfing the web in the mornings… Oooooh… I got used to living without internet on the 4th day. And I liked it! I went to sleep at midnight, not at 2 or 3 o’clock. For once I was watching TV with my family without a crochet hook in my hands because I had enough time to crochet during the day…

Granny Rose Pillow

And now about a Granny Rose pillow… The pillow is ready! While I was making it I decided to give my Granny Roses to my sister, she lives about 80km away from me and she is not very happy right now due to her son’s Kawasaki syndrome (I never heard before about that illness). So I hope my pillow will make her a little bit happier!

I started taking pictures about Week 3 progress while my daughters were beside me, and look what I got!
(Above part of this post was corrected by two my sons.)

I chose as-you-go joining method. I like it so much! Here you can find the tutorial how to do it.

The border I made: 3 dc in the one stitch, skip 1 st, 1 sc in the next st, skip 1 st,  etc...

Granny Rose Pillow__The corner
In the corner stitch do 5 dc instead of 3 dc.

Granny Rose Pillow_7_ closure

Granny Rose Pillow__The reverse side

I made the pillow on both side - it is more easy for me then sew one side to the fabric.
For the back I made 4 simple granny squares in 8 rounds each and I joined them with as-you-go method.
I was so happy making the pillow. Thank you, Astri, for your great crochet-a-long!

So my beautiful Granny Rose Pillow now lives in my sister's house! By the way my sister has hinted that she would be happy to get a couple more of similar pillows ... :)
And the good news: my nephew now is at home, he feels much better!

I'm so happy again - another my big project A-simple-square-blanket-for-my-son is also ready and I have some it's pictures as well, so I'll tell you very soon about the blanket and one quick project (I've promised in the last post).

My dears
I wish you a happy and a sunny day -
every day!
