Pistachio Cotton Coasters. The Pattern

Pistachio Cotton Coasters 4

Last year I made the same coasters in rainbow colors for which I draw a graphic chart, and now I've decided to make a written description for those of you for whom it is easier then read graphic charts.

Pistachio Cotton Coasters 1

Today's version is crocheted in Rico Design Creative Cotton Aran with a 4,5 mm hook. The colors are: Pistachio, Light Pistachio, Nature.

USA terminology:
slst - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet dc2tog - 2 double crochet together
dc3tog - 3 double crochet together
dc4tog - 4 double crochet together

Pistachio Cotton Coasters 2

How to make 2 double crochet together/ dc2tog::  (Yarn over, insert your hook in a required stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops) - 2 times, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.
For dc3tog and dc4tog you have to repeat the basic part 3 or 4 times respectively.
Also here is a great tutorial of how to make dc2tog.

The size of finished coasters is 11 cm in diameter.

Pistachio Cotton Coasters 5

The Pattern::

Ch 4 join in ring with a slip stitch.
Round 1::  ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with a slst in first dc (not in top of ch 3), don't over tighten, then the slip stitch will be over the beginning ch 3 and it will look as lovely very first dc of round 1.

Rnd 2::  slst in space between the beginning ch 3 and following dc, ch 2, dc2tog in same space, ch 1, (dc3tog in space between the two following dc, ch 1) - 11 times, slst in top of beginning dc3tog, slst in first ch-1-space of the round.

Rnd 3::  ch 2, dc3tog in same space, ch 2, (dc4tog in following ch-1-space, ch 2) - 11 times, slst in top of beginning dc4tog. After you will finish this round you can notice that your coaster is a bit twisted up, as a small crochet bowl. Don't worry! After you made the last round the coaster will be perfect flat.

Rnd 4::  ch 1, sc in same space, (hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in following ch-2-space, **sc in top of dc4tog, (hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in following ch-2-space - 10 times in total from **, (hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in last ch-2-space, slst in first hdc(not in first sc). Fasten off.

So enjoy! I hope everything is clear for you. I will be happy if you liked the finished coasters and I really want you to share with me your creations crocheted with this pattern. So please leave your comments.

Crochet Heart Buntings

Crochet Heart Bunting 1

Valentine's Day is coming soon and searching the web there is a lot of beautiful heart projects.
Of course I couldn't resist against the hearts and made a few heart buntings.

Crochet Heart Bunting 5

Crochet Heart Bunting 2

I found the Itty Bitty Crochet Heart Tutorial for the first bunting.
For the original pattern I've added two sc(US terms) rounds:
first is in the same color and the next is in white color.
I made these two rounds on back loops only.

For the thread I made ch 35, then sc in the top of right half of the heart, then ch 5,
then sc in the top of left half of the same heart.
Between the hearts I'm working ch 10, then again as above:
sc in the right top, ch 5, sc in the left top, etc.

Crochet Heart Bunting 3

My(actually not mine, it was presented to one nice lady) bunting contains 9 hearts in different colors of acrylic chunky yarn. I've used a 5,5 mm hook. The similar heart garland I made last year and I really really like it and therefore it adorns our fireplace almost all year with short breaks for Christmas and other holidays. But now our fireplace is empty because it waiting for a new triangle bunting which is finished and (in its turn) is waiting for the photoshoot. I  hope I can handle with all that very very soon.  :)

And now about another heart bunting.

Granny Heart Bunting 1

It was my first time making Granny Hearts.

Granny Heart Bunting 10

And now I love them much more then previous hearts!

Granny Heart Bunting 5

Granny Heart Bunting 3

The basic pattern is here. But I changed it a bit: in the 2nd round instead of each ch 1 which is between the 3-dc-clusters, I made dc(US terms) in the second dc of 3-dc-clusters of previous round.
Accordingly in the 3rd round the 12-treble-shells goes in these dc.

Granny Heart Bunting 6

Granny Heart Bunting 9

For the thread I used the same method, ch 20, sc in the right top, ch 9, sc in the left top,
ch 10 to the next heart, etc.
The same chunky acrylic yarn and a 5,5 mm hook and a lot of enjoyment!

Granny Heart Bunting 8

These hearts are more bigger then previous and I love them so much!

Granny Heart Bunting 7

On the photo above shown the process of making photos. Yes... yes...
I am standing on the table. :)
So enjoy the making hearts! It is easy! It is pleasure! And it is a lovely result for your home
or for a gift...
About my big big blanket... hurray! it is finished! It is so huge! The biggest one I've made so far! So colorful and so warm! And waiting for a sunny day to be photographed...

Take care

Revival of a Big Blanket

Big Blanket wip

Hello! For a long time I did not write here, but still continued to read your blogs and not ceasing I was crocheting crocheting crocheting different colorful things. Part of them was to custom orders, it is so nice to receive a little money for your favorite hobby, but... but... but... more I like to crochet for my home, my kids,  my family and friends... And what about you? What you like to crochet more - for sale or for gifts?
We moved to a new house before Christmas, where our girls have one big bed for two. So I decided to finish a big blanket which I've started a year ago as a part of A Granny A Day CAL from this blog. I wasn't working with the blanket almost half a year because I was a little tired to make a squares each day and now I'm crocheting just granny stitch around, without of making granny squares. The blanket should be 180 cm width and it is almost done. Now I'm thinking about the border...
Today we have snowing and wind but I like this weather! It reminds me of the weather in Latvia, which I missed...
And I wish you to have a weather you like and a good mood,
always!
Till next time
Olga
