White Fairy Tale Tablecloth

Oh my Goodness! This is not a tablecloth! It's something beautiful... wonderful... great... awesome... stunning... excellent... outstanding... overwhelming... I know... I know... I'm not very modest... But I soooooooo love the finished tablecloth which I made for my Mom who is living far away from me. I also want the same or similar item! But I'm not sure I would ever do something like that again... I was crocheting it since last August, it's almost a year. Here and here you have seen the progress. It took more than an hour to crochet last round, which length is approximately... I have to measure... Done! It's 5,7 metres in circumference.

Fringe... At the beginning I wasn't thinking about the fringe, but when I finished the border I thought that it would be better with this. So I hung 464 fringes(I can't believe) which weight was 245gr of yarn. For the each fringe I've cut 4 strands of the yarn, it's 735 metres in total.

 :) I love statistics!

The total weight of the tablecloth is  745g.

The diameter is 170cm(140cm without of fringes).

Various Acrylic DK white yarn and a 4mm hook.

I would love to take a picture of the tablecloth covering the round table, but I have not this. So looking forward my Mom will take the picture, she has a round table surely.

Oh, I forgot the most important thing: this is not only tablecloth - it also can be worn a shawl! Yes! It looks great dressed on me! Isn't it?

I don't know where I had found the graphic chart, it was a while ago. I'm just posting these two pictures and I apologize if I'm violating someone's rights.

I made 43 rounds only, then I've added 3 rounds of chain web(ch 5, sc, etc...) and then this border:

But in 7th round instead of 1 dc and picot, I worked (1 dc, picot, 1 dc) in ch-2-space of previous round. And the very last round I came up with a ch 5 and sc in between the group of (1dc, picot, 1 dc). And then the fringes very easy goes in ch 5 space! 

I'm so glad I finished this project!

Circle in a Square. The Pattern

   

  I've received a few questions about my last Circle in a Square Baby Blanket. So today I want to share with you the pattern.

  American Terminology:
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
st - stitch, stitches
sc - single crochet

   The Pattern:
Ch 4 join in ring with a sl st.

  Round 1:: ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with a sl st in first dc (12 dc if you will count the initial ch 3 as a dc stitch). Turn piece – now your are working on the back side.

  Round 2:: ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in each of next 11 stitches, join with a sl st in first dc (24 dc).

  Round 3:: ch 3, [dc in next st, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st] - repeat 10 more times, dc in next st, dc in last stitch (from which comes the initial ch 3), ch 1, join with a sl st in first dc. That's it! Cut the yarn! The circle is ready! Don't forget to turn your piece, because the right side is the first round facing to you.

  Round 4:: Let's turn our circle into a square! In this round we are working in ch 1 spaces only, so you have to join a new color in any chain 1 space. There are a few ways how to join a yarn. I prefer here the standing sc: make a slip knot and just work a sc in the desired space while holding the slip knot on your hook with your finger. Come about? Then make ch 2. So this sc and the ch 2 are made the initial dc stitch. Work 2 dc in same space, ch 1, **3 dc in next space, ch 1, (3 treble, ch 2, 3 tr) corner made in next space, ch1, 3 dc in next space, ch 1 - repeat from ** 2 more times, then 3 dc in next space, ch1, corner in next space, ch1 and join with a sl st in first dc (not in the initial stitch). Cut the yarn!

Ready! You got a lovely square with a cute small inner circle. Could you see the first round is the right side, the next two rounds - wrong side, and the last square-round is again the right side.

Two beautiful Baby Blankets I've made last month...
Circle in a Square Baby Blanket

A 4 mm hook

100% Acrylic yarn. Mostly Stylecraft Special DK, Patons FAB

I love this border! It's so pretty, isn't it? The pattern of it I took from this cardigan, I've made a while ago.

The next one is the Granny Square Baby Blanket ↓

Cream color for the joining and the border #73 from Around the Corner Crochet Borders by Eddie Eckman book.

Oh how I was addicted with making these colourful squares and circles...

 I'll show you a little of it's progress. Below is the first citron and orange circles for the first blanket ↓

Sunny day... work in progress outside... It's me... ↓

...and a half of the finished blanket. The circles are just three rounds of double crochet stitches, but the second and third rounds are crocheted in the wrong side.

Here is the squares for the second blanket. A traditional granny square, but I've turned my square after each round made. ↓

Joined with cream color... m-m-m... Again the same situation... the yarn was used up when the last row of squares was left to join them  ↓

So... now I'm working on the same blanket but adult size. Stay tuned... I'll show you it's progress very soon...

Pistachio Cotton Coasters. The Pattern

Last year I made the same coasters in rainbow colors for which I draw a graphic chart, and now I've decided to make a written description for those of you for whom it is easier then read graphic charts. 

Today's version is crocheted in Rico Design Creative Cotton Aran with a 4,5 mm hook. The colors are: Pistachio, Light Pistachio, Nature.

USA terminology: 
slst - slip stitch
ch - chain 

sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet dc2tog - 2 double crochet together 
dc3tog - 3 double crochet together 
dc4tog - 4 double crochet together

How to make 2 double crochet together/ dc2tog::  (Yarn over, insert your hook in a required stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops) - 2 times, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.

For dc3tog and dc4tog you have to repeat the basic part 3 or 4 times respectively. 
Also here is a great tutorial of how to make dc2tog.

The size of finished coasters is 11 cm in diameter.

The Pattern:: 

Ch 4 join in ring with a slip stitch.

Round 1::  ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with a slst in first dc (not in top of ch 3), don't over tighten, then the slip stitch will be over the beginning ch 3 and it will look as lovely very first dc of round 1.

Rnd 2::  slst in space between the beginning ch 3 and following dc, ch 2, dc2tog in same space, ch 1, (dc3tog in space between the two following dc, ch 1) - 11 times, slst in top of beginning dc3tog, slst in first ch-1-space of the round.

Rnd 3::  ch 2, dc3tog in same space, ch 2, (dc4tog in following ch-1-space, ch 2) - 11 times, slst in top of beginning dc4tog. After you will finish this round you can notice that your coaster is a bit twisted up, as a small crochet bowl. Don't worry! After you made the last round the coaster will be perfect flat.

Rnd 4::  ch 1, sc in same space, (hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in following ch-2-space, **sc in top of dc4tog, (hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in following ch-2-space - 10 times in total from **, (hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in last ch-2-space, slst in first hdc(not in first sc). Fasten off.

A Rainbow Set

As I promised,  now is time for a Rainbow Set:

A Rainbow Granny Tissue Box Cover, which I've  made used the "The Royal Sisters..." tutorial.

I love love love my cover! Bright and cheerful! Very easy and fast to do.

And coasters.

Acrylic yarn. A hook 4,5 mm.

The pattern of coasters I 'll show you the next time. First I should to draw it...

These colorful things I've made for a couple of evenings, ignoring unfinished blankets and mom's shawl and hexagons for a new bag.... Oooooh, how many projects I have at the same time...

Some more stuff for Christmas

Hello my dears!

How was your Christmas? I hope it was fun, and Santa brought for you gifts that you wanted ...

And here is the Christmas Tree Ornaments I made for a couple of hours. 

The pattern is very easy:

Ch 4 join in ring.

Rnd 1:   Dc and ch 1 - repeat 12 times.

Rnd 2:  2 Dc and ch 1 in each ch 1 space of previous round. Ch 20 for a handle - in any place between the 2 Dc clusters. 

That's it!!! 

Simple! Beautiful! Colorful!

The acrylic yarn I 've used is Stylecraft Special Chunky, Tivoli Eurospun Block Buster Chunky and King Cole Big Value Chunky.

A 6mm hook.

Try to make!

 Oooh so hard to get a real shade of red color. I still don't know how to.
